Dahlias from season to season

Growing beautiful dahlias is only part of their story. At the end of the season comes one of the most important, and sometimes intimidating, parts of growing them: lifting, dividing and storing the tubers that will become next year's plants.

In this hands-on atelier, we'll work together with dahlia clumps from the Fleuris garden as I take you through the process I use to prepare our tubers for winter and the following growing season.

You'll learn how to identify the essential parts of a viable division, find the eyes, make confident cuts and recognize which tubers are worth keeping. We'll also talk about lifting, cleaning, labelling and winter storage, including how to prevent some of the most common problems with rot, dehydration and loss.

You'll have plenty of opportunity to practise dividing real clumps yourself, with guidance along the way, and you'll leave with a few dahlia tubers you've divided to grow in your own garden next season.

Designed for home gardeners and flower growers who would like to become more confident caring for and multiplying their own dahlias.

No previous experience is needed.
